My Latest Obsession With Nars

Nars is a brand I didn’t have much experience with, the only products I owned were lipsticks which were gifts.  Sadly there isn’t a counter close to where I am so if I wanted to get my hands on some of their goodies I’d have to scarily order online…

Buying make up online is a tricky business, not one I usually partake in as the website could easily make a product look far better than it actually is and the colours are generally way off. However, after seeing these beauties on ASOS I had to finally move them from my “saved items” to the “basket” and take the risk.

I didn’t go absolutely crazy and blow all my money on a ton of products, these are a handful of those which most attracted me, they won’t be the last I assure you.

Velvet Matte Skin Tint (SPF 30)

I used this product the day it arrived. I don’t know why but I expected this to be more of a liquid consistency (which is stupid because it has the word MATTE in it’s name), instead it’s very creamy and honestly so easy to blend and I was actually quite shocked at how beautifully it went onto my skin.

This gives you the coverage of a lightweight foundation but feels like nothing on the skin, mattifies but doesn’t look dry and also gives you sun protection! This is a winner in my eyes.

Colour wise, I had to guess. I’m usually always fake tanning so this is where buying online can be a bit tricky, I took a chance and grabbed the shade “St Moritz” which is called “Medium 1“. It obviously was my lucky day because this colour is perfect for me, it has more of a yellow undertone and blends in with my tan better than I anticipated.

Radiant Creamy Concealer

I’m 100% sure you’ve heard of this one, and to answer your question, yes this concealer is as good as everyone says. It gives you such amazing coverage especially for under your eyes. I have quite blue/purple tones under my eyes and while I usually use a corrector to neutralise, I don’t need to with this concealer. This doesn’t mean it’s thick and cakey though, the formula feels quite light and a little does go a long way.

I like to be a little brighter under the eyes so I opted for a lighter colour than my natural skin tone, the shade “Vanilla“/”Light 2” is perfect.

Orgasm Illuminator

I have to say I was a bit skeptical about this one and did actually consider sending it back. I tried this under my make up, on top of my foundation and also mixed in with it too and I was so glad I kept it. For those days where I wanted a sheer glow that looked like nothing other than my skin, this illuminator will give me that. My favourite part about it is how it doesn’t separate my foundation, most illuminators will take off my base make up as I apply it on my skin but this one doesn’t!

You can grab this product in 5 different shades and I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t get this in another colour too. I picked up this one in “Orgasm” which I think is super natural with light-medium skin tones.

Cheek Palette

This palette is what made me want to order in the first place, blush has really grown on me lately and I find my face looks so boring, dull and lifeless without a dusting of it. It has a collection of 4 matte colours, 1 shimmer and 1 highlight – perfect for travelling! I loved how the shade range is so varied, there’s nothing worse than buying a palette that showcases colours that are pretty much all the same.

For the price, you get a lot for your money. The sizes of these blushers are very generous and far more than I expected when I ordered. I chose this one in “Wanted I” but it also comes in another shade, more darker colours for darker skin tones.

Precision Lip Liner

To complete my little haul, I wanted to try a lip pencil. I already own a couple of Nars lipsticks so it seemed fitting to pick up a lip liner. For me, there’s nothing worse than a pencil which is dry and uncomfortable to apply, you simply can’t line the lips with it let alone wear it for hours. This one is both precise and comfortable to apply. However, it isn’t very long wearing, it does wipe away fairly easily which wasn’t a problem for me but if you’re on the hunt for a pencil to stay, I’d say keep looking.

I chose the colour “Venice” which is like a neutral pink shade, definitely not a nude. The only part I was disappointed wit was that the pencil doesn’t display the shade name on it’s packaging, the only way you’d know the name is from the box itself.

As I said before, buying online can be scary but if you’re lucky you can get it spot on. These products are definitely worth their prices in my eyes and I’m certain this won’t be my last Nars haul.

Until next time…
