My Everyday Makeup Routine

I think for most people, once you find a routine in the morning, you tend to stick to it. Whether that be for your makeup, hair or just generally getting ready for the day, you know exactly what you’re doing and how long it’s going to take.

Today I’m going to run through my everyday makeup, this is mainly a basic routine of what I wear both for work and on my off days. It’s quick, easy and effective!

To begin I start with my skincare to prep my face before I apply any makeup.

I always go straight on with my foundation first. My all time favourite is the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation (full review coming soon keep your eyes peeled). To blend this I pump it 3 times on the back of my hand, then dip my Full Coverage Face brush and blend into the skin in circular motions. I put this all over my face, even my eyelids.

Next, I swipe my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Vanilla under my eyes, on my chin, down my nose and in the centre of my eye brows. I blend this in with a dry Beauty Blender.

To set my under eyes, I dip the dry Beauty Blender into my Laura Mercier Translucent setting powder and press it under the eye area. This is honestly the one thing I recommend most.

Once this has set, my under eyes do not crease, ever.

To set my whole face, I pick up the Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder and wizz this all over to take away the shine.

Next is bronzer, my favourite step, I always go to my Bobbi Brown bronzer in the shade Natural and blend this with my Kiko Bronzer Brush. Bronzer adds warmth back into the skin.

So if you’re feeling a little dull and colourless it’s probably because you need bronzer to give a bit of dimension and shadow to the outside of the face. If you’d like a more natural look, use a large fluffy brush and apply with circular motions around the outside of the face (the 3 and the backwards 3). For a more contoured look, opt for a more contoured brush.

For blush, I change this up sometimes, but I always reach for my Nars blush palette.

First, smile! I apply this on the apple of my cheeks and take the excess higher up, this is more lifting and can make the skin look younger. The lower you apply your blush, the more ‘saggy’ your skin can look!

Highlighter makes such a difference to the face, you don’t have to apply a lot but I find even just a little can really lift the complexion, especially if you like a matte foundation. My favourite at the moment is this one from Bobbi Brown’s Christmas collection.

This duo is great to mix together for a beautiful glow on the cheekbones. Remember, always apply your highlighter on the high points of the face; cheek bones, bridge of the nose, brow bone.

I always apply my brow product before anything on my eyes, don’t ask me why though. I just use Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadow powder in Mahogany. To apply this, I brush out my brows with a ‘spooly’ (basically a clean mascara wand, you can find these on the end of angled brushes like this one from Bobbi Brown).

I find I can only get my clean, precise and structured brow all from the Zoeva brush. I just follow the natural shape of my brow around the outside and just fill them in. To make them more natural I then again brush through my brow with the groomer.

I love a really clean brow shape, so next I use the Estee Lauder Concealer in the shade 1W Light (Warm) and coat my Bobbi Brown Eye Liner brush to then ‘carve out’ my brow just underneath. If you’re looking for a really clean cut brow, this step will really help you.

For eyeshadow primer, I use my trusty Urban Decay primer potion and apply that all over.

I always set a primer and the concealer under my brow with a creamy eyeshadow colour, my favourite is this one from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.

Every single day I blend a warm toned eyeshadow through the crease and I always apply this with my all time favourite blending brush by Zoeva.
I blend this until I’m happy with the depth and then run the same colour underneath my eye with this Zoeva brush.

I line my top and bottom waterline with my Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeliner in either black or brown. Lining your waterline is a really quick and easy way to line your eyes without spending ages or worrying about it being that perfect line.

You can either leave the eyeshadow matte or add a sparkle or shimmer with your finger like I have.

To finish my eyes I opt for my Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara in black – this is the best!

For lips, I overline mine with the Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Ballet Pink, smooth over my Sazan Nude over the top and then sometimes apply a little lip balm for hydration.
