January Skincare Favourites

One thing that’ll never get old is buying, trying and loving new skincare. I’m a bit of a collector when it comes to the good stuff, I don’t stick to one particular brand because I love finding different products to help improve the look of my complexion. I can’t say I’ve always been this way, I’ve not always been a good makeup remover or someone to go for the best quality skincare, but it takes the comparison of the bad to appreciate the good.

January is the time of year when our skin needs the most hydration. It’s winter, the air is dry and the drop in temperature only makes you crave more moisturiser. Not only that but all the overeating and indulging over Christmas can really affect the clearness. I’ve got a handful of old and new favourites which I’m incorporating into my January skincare routine to stop the dehydration.

The top of my list is none other than Bobbi Brown‘s Instant Long Wear Makeup Remover. My usual purchase is in its original form (100ml) but every year they release their cult skincare favourites in both a travel and a deluxe size. Feeling less bad about digging into a 200ml version, I soak two cotton pads worth every night to remove my eye makeup with ease. I tend to keep this one just for eye makeup rather than my whole face. It’s perfect for all formulas out there, waterproof and all, just make sure you use it after a good shake to emulsify the oil and water together.

While we’re on the topic of makeup removing, next up is one of my all time favourite skincare brands, Elemis. I have to admit, I first introduced myself to them mid last year, so I can’t really class myself as an OG Elemis lover – although I feel like one. While I have cleansers coming out of my ears, I just had to get my hands on the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm and in the Rose scented limited edition version which is double the size in fact. I think I have a thing for larger versions of my skincare.

You only need about a 10p sized amount, warmed up in the palm of your hands and applied on top of your makeup. Massage it into your skin and bask in its hydrating glory before rinsing it off with a flannel soaked in warm water. You skin will feel a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

After repeat buying my day and night cream from the Superfood range, yes again by Elemis, I thought I would treat myself to the remaining two skincare goodies to compliment them. The facial wash is a gel cleanser rich of super greens to nourish the skin. It feels so fresh after and also smells incredible.

I’m not usually one to use a serums or oils, but the Superfood Facial Oil both hydrates my skin while giving it a healthy glow – which I struggle to achieve on my own. You only need about 3-4 drops underneath moisturiser to add a little extra to your routine.

My dad recently went to America so, of course, I sent him to Sephora. I always ask for Sephora‘s own sheet masks, they’re my favourite. Every flavour is just as hydrating as the other and they leave your skin feeling the softest it’s ever felt, no matter the flavour.

The last product I’ll be happily adding into my routine is the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright eye cream. This has been raved about all over YouTube and I was desperate to try it but it isn’t available to buy in the UK. With that being said, it obviously was the first on my list when he got there. This eye cream is so lightweight yet so rejuvenating and diminishes dark circles.

The first of many skincare purchases in 2019, this handful of products are bound to brighten up my January, I hope you find some to brighten up yours too!
